The music, amplified t'rough electronics.
True electronics amplify the music.
Non-stop like a stereophonic, y'know?
Like a, like a supersonic, y'know?
Like a bionic, y'know?
Yeah yeah... Yeah yeah!

Following the adoption of a new hardware-based sequencing and synthesiser setup on the dissolution of vanilla Archipelago in 2018 and a string of releases across known and respected Japanese labels such as NC4K, Trekkie Trax, OMOIDE LABEL and yours truly finestylewest showing a growing mastery and ease with old-school programming and recording techniques, label work experience student Archipelago Soundsystem presents a preview of the 11 track Speed goth dub'z 1.0 super extended play releasing next month (December 2022) on finestylewest.

The nearly 9-minute long tour de force that is lead-off track True electronics marks a new era for the project whilst looking back and reflecting on just how exactly they got here: haemorrhaging melodic sequencer runs suggestive of a futuristic approach to Spanish Ruta Destroy progressive tracks underpinned by a rock-solid yet lithe UK ragga speed(iest) garage base, with a deep and graceful bow to the scene that saved them in the inclusion of a Kyoto breaks middle section. Oh yes and a good old-fashioned Tony de Vit hard house key change at the very end, just to strip out the engine as the whole affair goes careening off towards the moon on pure accumulated centrifugal energy.

A further preview of the super EP is provided in the form of an extended gothic drum and bass remix from Trey Frey of US synth band Korine, straightening out the bumpy, punchy, cagey organ bassline of the original version of Nyabo'z organ'z into the sleekest, smoothest most nocturnal cruiser.

Lastly and in a nod to traditional formats where B-sides frequently housed experimental treasures, the 10-minute-plus Barajas Isappa tech provides a more traditional take to live hardware electronics, being edited from a live jam with the Yamaha DX200 and Roland JV2080 spitting magma-like acid offset by cursed-sounding, glacial Alpha Juno industrial strings and Budgie from the Banshees-like toms all over a modified Baltimore club (or is it flamenco?) drum pattern. We know there's got to be some absolute sickos, perverts and weirdos (in the best sense of the words!) out there who get off to 10-minute one-note songs: this one's for youse babes, we love youse, keep on freeqin on.
